Much has changed for so many people the last weeks. Even if you haven’t been affected directly by the virus, no doubt you’re working from home if you can, and chances are you or someone you know has lost their job.
Last week 18,000 people in Sweden alone registered at the unemployment agency, bringing it to a tremendous 36,000 people in March alone. And at the same time, 3.2 million people in the U.S. filed for unemployment benefit. Many countries around the world are facing these unprecedented unemployment numbers, as governments work to present packages to support the workers and small business owners.
That’s why we’ve decided to partner with Hack the Crisis, by offering our time to mentor those looking to build solutions, particularly in the ”Save the Businesses” track. We’ll also give free API access to participants as well, plus offer pay-outs at a very low rate, so you can get your project off the ground. To find out more contact us.
So, why do we think we’re a particularly good fit here? Well, many businesses are struggling; perhaps they have a surplus of workers they want to support, or they need to get their products/services out there but don’t know how. We’ve already been working with some of our customers on solving the supply and demand issue they’ve faced as a result of the pandemic, and believe there are many more businesses out there that could benefit from help.
If ”Save the Businesses” track isn’t your jam, they also have two additional focus areas, ”Save lives” and ”Save communities”. You can read more about these tracks on their website.
Hack the Crisis is a free hackathon, and will of course be done digitally. To sign up as either a business or individual go here: https://www.hackthecrisis.se/
We hope to see you there!
